Steve Adelson is considered one of the world’s premier Chapman Stick players. He has performed internationally in Germany, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Italy, Canada and Japan. Steve has produced the Long Beach New York Jazz Fest for the past 16 years and has brought in many world-renowned jazz icons into the series such as Stanley Jordan, Will Lee, Omar Hakim, Bucky Pizzarelli, Frank Vignola, as well as a long list of other world-class performers.
Steve is listed as the only Chapman Stick player in Scott Yanow’s book, The Great Jazz Guitarists, and is featured in a video at the Chapman Stick exhibit at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. Both Steve and Emmett Chapman, the creator of the Chapman Stick, have performed on the MIM stage.
Steve has recorded six CDs as a band leader and has recorded and performed with Les Paul, Larry Coryell, Tony Levin, Pat Martino, Rachel Z and Oz Noy.
He has also authored a Chapman Stick instructional method book with Mel Bay and a tutorial DVD with TrueFire Publications. Steve relocated to the Phoenix area in 2019 and continues to perform, and is one of the few teacher os the Chapman Stick to students all over the globe.
Come in to The Nash for a cold drink and some great jazz before tackling the rest of the First Friday attractions on Roosevelt Row.
