About This Event
Clark Gibson-saxes, Stan Sorenson-guitar, Chris Finet-bass, Lewis Nash-drums
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the personnel for this Sunday’s show has changed. But fear not…the modified lineup will give you an opportunity to hear Clark Gibson — The Nash’s new education director and awesome saxophonist – with Power Trio members Stan Sorenson and Lewis Nash, with the addition of Chris Finet to the rhythm section.
Stan Sorenson is arguably the face (and voice) of jazz guitar in Phoenix, having performed at every major venue, and with pretty much every notable musician, during his successful career. www.stansorenson.com
Lewis Nash – the namesake of The Nash – was called “Jazz’s Most Valuable Player” by Modern Drummer magazine and boasts a stunning list of recording credits, with award-winning projects with some of the immortals of the jazz world. lewisnashmusic.com
Clark Gibson has played with a wide range of groups including the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Temptations, the Four Tops, and Tito Puente Jr. In 2015 Gibson released the highly acclaimed, “Charlie Parker with Strings: The Lost Arrangements.” Clark just finished tracking a new CD featuring Michael Dease, Pat Bianchi, Sean Jones, Nick Mancini and Lewis Nash that will be released at The Nash early next year. clarkgibson.net
Chris Finet is the Professor of String Bass and Jazz Studies at Northern Arizona University where he succeeded his mentor, world-renowned bassist Joel DiBartolo, at the age of 28. Chris has performed internationally with many top jazz artists including Dave Douglas, Roy Hargrove, Dave Liebman, Flora Purim, and Jimmy Cobb; and he is a perpetual “first call” bassist throughout Arizona.
