About This Event

An added engagement for the JAZZmeetsPOETRY series celebrates the 50th anniversary of Miles Davis’ 1970 iconic double album Bitches Brew.

Released on March 30 on Columbia Records, the Grammy award-winning album gained recognition as one of jazz’s greatest albums, a progenitor of the jazz rock genre and a major influence on rock and funk musicians. On September 22, 2003, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA for selling one million copies in the U.S.

A poet will be matched with each track from the album to interpret the sounds into original poetic pieces backed by Union 32: Union32: Keith Kelly-tenor saxophone/flute, Adam Roberts-tenor & soprano saxophone, Brett Reed-vibraphone, Bailey Zick -upright bass, Ryan Anthony-drums & cymbals.

Co-produced by Marche-Pfister Productions and The Nash, the series provides a platform for poets and jazz musicians to make art that is expressive, interactive and captivating.
