Jude Poorten Trio

August 13 @ 7:30 PM

Jude Poorten-guitar, Max Beckman-bass, Andrew Flores-drums
Jude Poorten is a Phoenix born and raised guitarist. Growing up, he was fascinated by the improvisations of the blues, and carried that love through to his study of jazz music in high school at Phoenix Conservatory of Music and The Nash Legacy Ensemble. For his first year of college, he attended Arizona State University, where he worked with Lewis Nash, Mike Kocour, Jeff Libman, and Eric Rasmussen (Scottsdale Community College). Then, he continued on at Berklee School of Music in Boston, where he is currently involved with the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and mentored by great musicians such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Ben Street, and many more. Here, he continually incorporates jazz traditions, but with a greater focus on musical identity. He has been back in Phoenix during the pandemic, but will be returning back to Boston after this final performance.
For this event, which takes place on the infamous Friday the 13th, the Jude Poorten Trio will use improvisation to step into the fear of the unknown, creating mystery and suspense with original music while taking notable inspiration from composers such as Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, and Wayne Shorter. Be prepared for a thrilling night full of surprises!
