ONE MORE TIME: Frank Smith & Friends play Horace Silver
July 29 @ 6:30 PM
Frank Smith-sax/flute, Denny Monce-trumpet. Mark DeCozio-piano, Mike King-bass, Dom Moio-drums
Longtime Valley favorite Frank Smith and an all-star band to pay tribute to the legendary Horace Silver, who was a key architect of the popular bebop offshoot known as “hard bop”, which absorbed elements from blues and gospel music and evolved in the early 50s to dominate modern jazz. Frank Smith and company perform solid arrangements of Silver favorites like Song for My Father, Nica’s Dream, The Jody Grind and Peace, along with just the right amount of commentary to make this show as informative as it is authentic and entertaining.
These “OMT” shows will be streamed on Facebook in their entirety (minus the intermission) so that you can enjoy them along with others (virtually, of course) as if you were in the audience. You can comment interactively with other viewers and the musicians who are viewing the show. NOTE: If you are unable to watch shows at the scheduled times, they will be available on our Facebook page for viewing on demand afterwards.
