“The Art of the Composer” featuring the Superstition Jazz Orchestra directed by Mike Crotty
The composer has often been the driving force in the evolution of jazz, “pushing the envelope ” at every opportunity and stretching the creative talents of the individual performer.
On Wednesday, May 1, the Superstition Jazz Orchestra will present “The Art of the Composer”, featuring original pieces in varying styles written by composers, whose combined work spans eight decades. The concert will highlight music by George Russell, Oliver Nelson, Duke Pearson, Michel LeGrand and Herbie Hancock, as well as premiere performances of music by Michael Collins, Deater O’Neill and Mike Crotty. Please join us for a concert that promises to be full of innovative elements and musical colors throughout the jazz ensemble and….exciting for all!
