Superstition Jazz Orchestra

November 20 @ 7:30 PM

Superstition Jazz Orchestra – Music of the Modern Jazz Pianist

Throughout the evolution of jazz, the pianist has often been the source for many of the great compositions that have shaped the idiom. Their works frequently become the “standards,” which have been performed and recorded by numerous artists and ensembles from trio to jazz orchestra.

On Wednesday November 20th, the Superstition Jazz Orchestra will present a concert of arrangements by composer/arranger Mike Crotty, based on the works of several renowned jazz pianists. The program will share his musical perspective on compositions by such pianists as Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Billy Childs, Don Grolnick and others. The debut of a new work by pianist Michael Collins will be a highlight of the evening.

Please join the SJO for its final performance of 2019 and an evening of big band jazz that promises to be both enriching and entertaining!
