About This Event

In 1964, a new rock group from Liverpool, England, came to perform in the United States and, in doing so, they profoundly changed the popular music of the time. This group – The Beatles – brought their unique songwriting and musical style, imitated by countless performers at that time and still today. Band members and writers, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, wrote an enormous body of work – songs that reflected differing styles and points of view and began a very creative time in popular music.

On October 9, the Superstition Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of composer/arranger/multi-instrumentalist Mike Crotty, will present an evening of some of the most beloved hits by this extraordinary group. In Crotty’s own unique writing style, he has given each of these songs a distinctively new treatment, drawing on the creative talents of the orchestra’s fine soloists and singer Deater O’Neill, the music soars to new heights – from songs like Day Tripper and Norwegian Wood to the lyrically-poignant Blackbird and Fool On A Hill.

It promises to be an evening of timeless melodies and big band jazz at its finest!
