NASH LEGACY ENSEMBLES LIVESTREAM
7:30 PM Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020
YouTube: https://youtu.be/6tifGSCD3NY

DESCRIPTION

Since the second week of March 2020, the Nash Legacy Ensembles have been working hard to advance their skills while at home during the pandemic and using this opportunity to create music using remote, multi-track recording techniques. In this premiere livestream event we will celebrate and share their inspired work with the world.

DISCLAIMER

Viewers will not see a livestreamed performance by the Nash Legacy Ensembles. What they will see is a live listening session hosted by Mike Kocour who will share audio recordings of the Nash Legacy Ensembles created over the course of the last seven months. It will also be a premier event in that music featured during the livestream will be heard by the public for the first time.

Please take a moment to join us in the chat to say hello and to congratulate the amazing musicians who created the music you will hear.

ABOUT THE NASH LEGACY ENSEMBLES

Directed by two of the leading jazz musicians/educators in the Southwest – Mike Kocour (Director of Jazz Studies, Arizona State University) and Eric Rasmussen (Director of Instrumental Music, Scottsdale CC) – students in The Nash Legacy Ensembles develop the art of small jazz ensemble improvisation, composition, and arranging in a highly-supportive and collaborative manner.

This tuition-free program selects up to 12 musicians to perform regularly throughout the year and produce a CD of their music at the end of the academic year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Legacy Program will begin Fall 2020 online and move to an in-person model as the situation in Arizona becomes safe for students and teachers.

Those who are interested in participating in this program (or educators that wish to refer students) should contact Dr. Ben Hedquist at: ben.hedquist@thenash.org.
