Whether you are passionate about jazz and wine, or you are just looking for a unique way to spend a Sunday afternoon, this exclusive jazz and wine experience at The Nash is sure to be an informative and pleasurable experience.

The history of wine and the history of jazz as they relate to each other in the 20th century.

Renowned trumpeter Louise Barenger and her band will play jazz repertoire that compliments the wines as her equally renowned husband, Fred Tregaskis, explains how the histories of wine and jazz are intertwined throughout the 20th century. This is the first in a monthly series of Wine & Jazz Matinees; it will be themed around the history of jazz and wine in the era of the roaring 20s. Need we say more?

You’ll get to sample and enjoy four different wines over the course of the event, with additional glasses and bottles-to-go available for purchase. The event is limited to around 70 guests so that all who attend have tables and room to move as the music and spirits inspire.

About Fred and Louise

FRED TREGASKIS ‘ expertise in wine began with his working in vineyards while studying art at SUNY New Paltz. He was invited to be on the tasting panel for Wine Enthusiast magazine where he tasted and critiqued wine. He was the wine tasting host on National Public Radio’s weekly show “A Moment in Wine”. Fred was the founder of New England Wine Cellars, and later Summit Wine Cellars, building high end cellars around the world. Fred’s wine cellar designs have graced the covers of books and been featured in magazines geared towards wine aficionados. Fred has traveled to wine producing countries worldwide and enjoys sharing his passion with others in an all inclusive manner without pretension.

Louise Baranger was born in Hollywood and has played with the bands of Harry James, Nelson Riddle, Bill Berry, Jack Wilson and Ray Anthony. She has played at leading Jazz Festivals and has appeared on numerous television shows including The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, in addition to music videos with Joe Cocker, Bobby Womack and others. Louise has performed for two US presidents including being a featured soloist at the 2001 Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC. Her first solo album, Trumpeter’s Prayer (Summit Records), features Arturo Sandoval, Steve Allen, Carl Fontana and Frank Sinatra, Jr. Her second album, Louise Baranger Plays the Great American Groove Book (Summit Records) held the #1 position on jazz radio stations across the country.
