Always with a passion for vocal jazz from their childhood, and with encouragement from mentor Dennis Rowland (Count Basie Orchestra alumnus, Concord Jazz recording artist, vocal jazz educator), UGLYTHEY uses jazz as their genre of choice to blend their background in musical theatre and classical opera and pull from personal mementos with a theatrical flair to create a unique sound. With heart-felt, charming and sometimes macabre lyrics, and with the classic sound and allure of jazz musicians of the past, eccentric singer-songwriter UGLYTHEY does a remarkable job of mixing the old with the new to bring something truly fresh and authentic to their audiences. With more than a quarter-million streams and followers on social media, this show marking the release of UGLYTHEY’s first CD project is bound to be a sellout and a memorable experience!
