Join us at The Nash on Friday September 20th, 2019 as Joe Garcia & Friends share their music with you. Latin Jazz added to Jazz standards, taking you back to the 1960’s and 70’s, with a little boogaloo flavor on some of the compositions.
A native of South Florida and of Cuban-American descent, Joe’s exposure to Latin and jazz came at a very early age. Starting as a drummer at the age of thirteen, performing with his younger brother, he enjoyed the experience of playing in many different venues throughout Miami and Fort Lauderdale. In 1971 he began exploring various hand percussion instruments and fell in love with the conga drums. Over the last twenty years he has had the good fortune of performing many different music styles and numerous recording projects. With a driving passion for the rhythms of the world and a never-ending desire to constantly learn and create, Joe’s expertise and ability have lead him to participate in numerous live and studio projects. An avid collector, with hundreds of ethnic instruments, his quest to create and add to the world of music and percussion continues. “My passion for creating continues to grow and my search for new sounds never ends.” Joe performs with many different musical groups around has performed with Tambores, Luis Conte, Lewis Nash, Rebeca Mauleon, Orestes Vilato, Freddie Ravel, Marion Meadows, Peter White, Jesse J., Mindi Abair, George Young, Dom Moio, and Nicolas Payton, just to mention a few. He made is singing debut on the “Cinco de Moio” CD, and leads his own Latin jazz Quintet, “Joe Garcia & Friends”.
