Fred Forney-trumpet, Brice Winston-tenor sax, Nick Manson-piano, Chris Finet-bass, Dom Moio-drums
Long-time Valley first-call trumpeter Fred Forney pays homage to nine-time Grammy Award winner Miles Dewey Davis III (May 26, 1926 – September 28, 1991). For over 50 years, Miles has been considered one of the leading innovators in the evolution of jazz music, pioneering Bop, Cool, Hard Bop, Avant Garde and Fusion.
This special celebration for Miles includes music from the albums Kind of Blue, Porgy and Bess, ESP, Round Midnight, Cookin’ and compositions by Miles’ sidemen during the 1950s and early 60s.
The Fred Forney Quintet features veterans Brice Winston (tenor), Nick Manson (piano), Chris Finet (bass) and Dom Moio (drums). The music is grooving, hot, cool, blues, expression and innovation.
Whether new to jazz or devotee, this show from The Nash archives is a must see!
These “OMT” shows will be streamed on Facebook in their entirety (minus the intermission) so that you can enjoy them along with others (virtually, of course) as if you were in the audience. You can comment interactively with other viewers and the musicians who are viewing the show. NOTE: If you are unable to watch shows at the scheduled times, they will be available on our Facebook page for viewing on demand afterwards.
