Running From Bears is one of the leading creative jazz ensembles in the Southwest. Formed in 2009, this eclectic Phoenix-based sextet is known for adventurous compositions, imaginative arrangements including live jazz mash-ups, and exhilarating improvisations. The group’s most recent album is Maul of America (2017), released on the Edgetone label. Running From Bears continues its long-running residency at the Roosevelt Row mainstay The Lost Leaf.

For this performance, Running From Bears will play the music of Oliver Nelson, specifically from the classic albums The Blues and the Abstract Truth and More Blues and the Abstract Truth.
