Phoenix native Tim Ray returns to the Nash with a special performance by Tony Bennett’s quartet (prior to their Celebrity Theater concert with Mr. Bennett the following night). In addition to their tours and recordings with Tony, these musicians all have impressive credentials in the jazz world and beyond. Guitarist Gray Sargent (Illinois Jacquet, Phil Woods, Scott Hamilton, Dave McKenna, Benny Carter), drummer Harold Jones (Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Oscar Peterson), bassist Marshall Wood (Scott Hamilton, Monty Alexander, Harry Allen, Dave McKenna, Donna Byrne) will join Tim (Lyle Lovett, Gary Burton, Esperanza Spalding, Brian Blade, Terri Lyne Carrington, John Patitucci) in a spirited evening of jazz standards, plus some original tunes featured on Tim’s new CD Excursions & Adventures. Perhaps our friend Tony will stop by for a visit as well…
