At The Nash, anything goes. The Nash offers several programs designed to develop jazz musicians and increase public appreciation for this original American art form. Discover an emerging artist, enjoy seasoned musicians collaborating on our stage, and listen to mainstream jazz and related genres rooted in the traditions of jazz.
Sunday Jam Sessions
The true spirit of jazz plays out on stage at The Nash during Sunday Jam Sessions, as student and professional musicians play together, unrehearsed, in a variety of combinations. There’s always a solid core trio in the lineup, and student jazz musicians and singers are welcome to participate in this essential jazz experience. Advance or online tickets are not available to Jam Sessions. Tickets available at the door.
Ensemble Concerts
Small group settings with professional musicians as mentors create an environment that encourages collaboration and discovery. Open enrollment makes our programs accessible to anyone who wants to try. Our ensemble groups put emerging musicians on stage to perform in concerts and performances throughout the community.
Jazz Matinee
A Sunday staple at The Nash, Jazz Matinees feature professional musicians who are members of the local music scene or national acts that add our concert club to their tours. Enjoy solo and group shows in intimate afternoon concerts.
Emerging Artist Series
The Nash selects up-and-coming jazz musicians under the age of 25 to be part of this concert series taught by local jazz educators. The Emerging Artist Series provides a platform for young musicians to gain presentation experience and be formally introduced to the jazz community, while offering a unique entertainment experience for jazz fans.
Tuesday Instrumental Jam Sessions
Each Tuesday, saxophonist Clark Gibson and bassist Corcoran Holt join forces to present a different kind of jam session for The Valley – Set #1 will feature these two performing with a different supporting cast each week. Set #2 will be open to musicians looking for an opportunity to sit in and play some jazz with a high level of experience and musicianship. Both sets promise an evening of great jazz for those just wishing to listen!
