Valdes is a 26-year veteran of music performance who performs and tours with the Machito Orchestra, The Richie Cecere Orchestra, The Shirelles, The Dalton Gang and Donna Summers.

Raúl Yañez Latin Jazz Quintet

Join us for a lively evening of Latin Jazz and Salsa, blended with Mambo, Descarga, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Bolero and Samba. Raúl Yáñez brings a rich musical background and experience to the stage. He currently teaches at ASU in their School of Music, Dance & Theatre. He has worked and recorded with other notable artists and groups such as Joey DeFrancesco and Jimmy Smith. He was the composer of the first Concerto for Turntable and has toured with Sister Sledge, El Chicano and Esteban.

2019 GRAMMY® Winner (Producer, Spanish Harlem Orchestra) Doug Beavers has been hailed by critics and fellow musicians as a leading trombonist of his generation and “an arranger of the first-class” (Harvey Siders, JazzTimes). After moving to New York and receiving his Master’s Degree in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music in 2002, he was catapulted to international significance when he was discovered by NEA Jazz Master Eddie Palmieri to transcribe and arrange the complete repertoire from his historic La Perfecta group of the 1960s.

Miguel Zenón

Multiple Grammy Nominee and Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenón represents a select group of musicians who have masterfully balanced and blended the often- contradictory poles of innovation and tradition. Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential saxophonists and composers of his generation, he has also developed a unique voice as a conceptualist, concentrating his efforts on perfecting a fine mix between jazz and his many musical influences.

Rebecca De La Torre

Vocalist, pianist, and cuatrista Rebecca De La Torre and her Latin/Americana/World band Bohemian Insurgence, return to The Nash on February 9th as part of our Latin Jazz Series of concerts. The night promises to feature fresh new latin-influenced interpretations of several jazz standards, as well as several Cuban & Argentinian classics translated poetically into English by Rebecca herself. Come experience beautiful vocals, intriguing soundscapes, and latin/folk original compositions “where Soul/Americana meets Latin/World”.

Magos Herrera

Born in Mexico City and currently based out of New York City, Magos Herrera is a dazzling jazz singer songwriter, producer, and educator. Declared as "One of the greatest contemporary interpreters of song” by The Latin Jazz Network Magos is regarded as one of the most active vocalists in the contemporary Latin American jazz scene, she is best known for her eloquent vocal improvisation and her singular bold style, which embraces elements of contemporary jazz with Ibero-American melodies and rhythms singing in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, in a style that elegantly blends and surpasses language boundaries.

Marcos Crego - The Good Old Havana Nights

Marcos Crego was born and educated in Havana, Cuba. He started his career in Cuba and at a very young age was recognized by world class musicians as an up and comer. Marcos has traveled internationally performing with other renowned musicians at festivals and concerts. Marcos’ most recent tours have been with the Afro Cuban All Stars touring and playing major venues and festivals including The Playboy Jazz Festival 2014 and SF Jazz Center. He has received two Grammy nominations and continues to engage audiences wherever he plays.
